Origins 2017

This year at Origins Game Fair was good to Reliquary Game Studios. We shared a booth in the Exhibitor Hall with our friends at Fearlight Games. Much fun was had by all and we exposed a lot of new people to the Clockwork: Dominion Roleplaying Game.

If you have a Con that you would like to see Clockwork played at, let us know! We are happy to facilitate Narrators to run the game at any convention, and possibly even show up to sell books ourselves.

The Cabinet of Curiosities

The first supplement for the Clockwork: Dominion Roleplaying Game is here! Cabinet of Curiosities is a collection of magic, technology, and other items of interest for use in your game. Those seeking mystical knowledge will find more spells, magical traditions, a guide to astral travel, and the dark art of sorcery. Technophiles will discover more weapons, rules for vehicular combat, mechanical marvels, new functions for item creation, and a history of both the most amazing inventions of the century and the prodigies and madmen who created them. Every fine gentleman and lady will find more character options, expanded conflict rules, and new ways to adventure in the Clockwork.

Pick it up in PDF or Print on Demand from DriveThruRPG or ask for it at your local gaming store!

Reliquary Games Studios is Expanding

When we nearly sold out of our sizable stock of Core Rulebooks at our GenCon release last year, we realized that the interest in exploring the Clockwork went far beyond the Kickstarter backers who brought the game to life. Although our small team had a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the game, it became clear that the three of us wouldn’t be enough to handle the new development and business needs of our fledgeling company while still working on the creative end of this endeavor. We needed to grow. Thus, we welcome the newest member of Reliquary Game Studios: Lisa.

You may remember Lisa as the medical history consultant who gave the linch pin argument for keeping Beastfolk as part of the Clockwork when much of the design team though that they were too fantastical to remain in the game. A painting of her appears in the Core Rulebook to commemorate her as the “mother of beastfolk.” Well, it turns out that in addition to a ton of ranks in Medicine, she also is one heck of an editor and developer. Thus, she’s taken on a lot of the work involved in putting books together and is now an official member of Reliquary Game Studios.

Her work has allowed us to take a few large steps forward as a company. This week we finalized the long process of working out a deal with a new printing partner. The Clockwork: Dominion Core Rulebook is now going into a second printing (our very first offset printing), and by this summer 1000 beautiful new core books, and 1000 decks of cards (in their awesome new tuck-box) will be making their way to us. This major step allows us not only to guarantee that we can keep the book available for new players, but it also opens the door for wider distribution and new opportunities to get Clockwork: Dominion into brick and mortar stores. This is a great day, and helps set up a long future for the game.

Come explore the Clockwork!

The book is a beautiful 330 full-color pages with images from amazing artists such as Raven Mimura and Helen Mask, and layout design by Adam Jury. It will inspire and inform countless steampunk adventures in the Clockwork, a Victorian world of gothic horror.

The Books Have Begun to Ship!

All Domestic Kickstarter Rewards have left our facility. We just shipped the last of the Deluxe editions this morning after we spent most of last night signing them. All domestic books are being shipped via Media Mail with tracking, so they should arrive within about a week. Delays are always possible in shipping, but if you have not received your book by the second week of August, please contact us immediately and we’ll sort it out.

Foreign Kickstarter reward fulfillment is a bit more complicated, but is well under way. We are working hard to get these books and cards to you as quickly as possible, but the intricacies of oversees shipping will take slightly longer to navigate. We’ll update again as things fall into place.

We are so excited to get these books into your hands! Please let us know what you think on our Facebook Page or in the forums on our website, www.clockworkdominion.com. Your comments will help us keep the gears turning and produce supplements and expansions that you want to see.

Print Proofs in Hand

A long awaited day has come. The proofs are in hand and the books are about to be ordered from the printer. The final book will be 328 full-color pages. Layout is done by the veteran designer, Adam Jury, and there’s amazing artwork from people like Raven Mimura, Helen Mask, and Luke Santiago.

Provided all goes well with proof revision, it appears as though our domestic Kickstarter backers will have their copies sometime toward late July or early August, and the book will be available online as soon as our backers’ books are in the mail.  Expect an update toward the end of this month on an exact date when the book will be available for purchase!

Update for Book Layout

We’ve been quiet the last few weeks as we’ve been very busy working with Adam Jury on the initial layout of the book. Our efforts are paying off, and last week we got the first pass layout version of the entire core book! After all the time and effort that’s gone into getting it this far, seeing the whole book–even as a rough cut–in a single document was an exciting moment, and well worth an update. So here’s where we’re at:

Core Book Status 5.10.15Core Book Status 5.10.15

We still need to work on cleaning up pagination, making a few tweaks on art placement, and the like before we get final pagination and indexing complete, but this is a major milestone that shows we’re on track to have everything complete and ready to go to print in June.

Here are some sample pages from the book so you can get a sense of how things will look:

We hope you are as excited as we are!

Clockwork: Dominion at GenCon

Salutations!

As we lift our heads from our daily work on drafts of the core book, we look ahead with excitement to GenCon, and the chance to run games of Clockwork: Dominion for friends both new and old. As we prepare, we want to be sure that all of you have the chance to pre-register for a spot in our games, as we still have seats open across all four days, Thursday through Sunday, August 14-17. You can check out a full event listing and sign up for games on the GenCon website.

We’re running three different scenarios, and will provide everything you need to play for brand new players and veterans of last year alike:

Idle Hands The fall of 1896 finds the citizens of Edinburgh, Scotland ill at ease. A string of missing bodies has stirred up reminders of the city’s history of murder, witchcraft, and grave-robbing. The city’s small police force is under increasing pressure to catch whoever is responsible, but there’s been no break in the case – until tonight. Play as one of Edinburgh’s finest or other exceptional citizens as they confront an unexpected menace. A great introduction to a Victorian World of Gothic Horror that encourages narrative play, offers robust social and physical conflict systems, and a fluid initiative system that lets you jump into the action at any time. Come experience the Clockwork!

Incident Aboard the Egret The Egret is a modern aeronautic marvel, racing across the Atlantic from Europe to Brazil in less than three days. She’s sleek, elegant, and flying on her is a story worth telling. You’ve been eagerly awaiting the trip, but not for any of those reasons. You have more personal and more pressing matters to attend to. Every character on board the Egret has their own goals to accomplish on the flight, and their own consequences if they fail. When confronted with a fateful incident, can you come together and triumph, or will your differences tear you apart? This adventure takes full advantage of the unique mechanics for both social and physical conflict in a Victorian World of Gothic Horror.

Power The brilliant Nikola Tesla has devised plans for a machine that could broadcast power freely – possibly throughout the world. Thus, the British Royal Society has funded an expedition to the Arctic, where Tesla hopes to harness the unique properties of the pole to test his theories. Play as the inventors, alchemists, sailors, and socialites that are accompanying Mr. Tesla on the expedition – but the northern lights are not the only things that await you there. Explore the wonders of technology and alchemy in this brand new scenario of Victorian World of Gothic Horror. This is a great opportunity to check out the unique, story-focused mechanics and fluid conflict system with the game’s creators before the general release.

We’ll also be offering everyone who plays at GenCon a chance to win a special prize, so register now while seats are still open, and we’ll see you in Indianapolis!

All the Best,

Zeke & Than
